Very nice, John. Beautiful composition, with strong leading lines. The exposure was greatly controlled here. Well done.
Nicely done.
I like, well taken and processed - although it sounds like the latter was a close call![]()
Very nice image, it might work even without the guard![]()
Excellent image John, HDR would have been too much but....maybe just the hint of a sunset may have been in order![]()
You should have posted it too even if you have to step on some toes...I know I would but I do not like overprocessed HDR either...Anyway, moving on....I like this shot for the perspective and the mono treatment you did here. The train guard doesn't bother me either...I think he adds interest to the shot.
Very nice composition and conversion to B&W.![]()
Excellent. Great composition and the guard adds that extra interest. Is this in Knaresborough?
Thanks all for a great set of comments.
@ Peter:
@Graham: Yes it is. Spent the night there prior to driving back through the North Yorks moors. You're obviously very familiar with it.
Terrific image indeed!
I've never seen a nice empty platform like this or did you clone out a few transplant tourists?
Great photo and eye. Nicely done in regards to the post work as well.
Nicely done indeed.
Very good composition and exposure balance. I'm not sure why, but for me the monochromatic pics of similar subjects (railway, certain architecture types, ...) almost always make a better effect than the colour ones.
No not particularly familiar but the Carriages Wine Bar sign up in the top left had me thinking I'd seen that place when I'd visited York and Harrogate on a trip over there so I looked it up on the web.
And nooo, not a British transplant Izzie although my great grandfather was back in the 1870s![]()
Excellent shot! I really like it!
Thanks all for the additional comments.
Izzie, apparently Graham isn't a transplant. He is just well practiced at spotting the local Wine Bars.- and very good it was Graham.
No cloning Kay. The platform was empty. The train reverses at this point and all of the arriving commuters were long gone. I think the guard was just checking that I wasn't there for the return journey when I caught him.
Janko, yes I agree with you particularly in an industrial environment.
