My response to Louise' post What are your photography pet hates?
was people out for nature walks chatting or making noise. These two images were taken in a city park and within minutes, only enough time to take about ten shots; a couple of kids ran up and scared the bird away. In defense of nature walkers, a couple alerted my attention to this bird and were very quiet while watching me try to get a good capture.

This bird spent a good amount of time tapping at and honking at its own reflection. I thought perhaps the car manufacturer could create an ad campaign expounding on the glossiness of their automobile exterior. Chrysler 200.




Regarding my technique and post processing, the camera was already set at ISO 1000, 155mm, 1/400sec, f/11 and I just fired away, tried adjusting my settings on the fly but only got a few blurry shots due to too slow of a shutter speed. I mention the camera settings only because when viewing histogram during post processing; noticed that capture was exposed to the left. The SUPPOSED white head of the bird info showed RGB values of 98, I corrected blown highlights but could not adjust exposure without losing detail in the feathers. Initial PP was done in LR, noise corrected with NIK software and slight adjustments in Elements.

The seagull is probably from Britain and puzzled as to why the car is parked on the wrong side of the road...

I prefer the first photo. A dark car and a white headed bird in sunlight was always going to cause problems. Your PP has worked well.

Once i noticed the name on the tire I was lost. this must have been as difficult as shooting into a mirror?
