    1920's Fashion Model COLORIZATION

    Hi Everybody,

This week I was going through some very old photographs of my great grandparents and it got me thinking about fashion in the 1920's. I came across this old, gorgeous black and white photo of a 1920's fashion model while on the internet and thought it would be a fun colorization. Hope you enjoy it!

Zak, I am a HUGE fan of your work and have no clue how you do it. With that being said....I feel the skin here is too tan. Ladies in the 20s and well up until much later prided themselves on being pasty white. Tan indicated you worked outside and no lady wanted to be accused of such. Love the idea and the photo otherwise.

I agree with you and tried that idea at the beginning. The problem is that the black and white has dark skin tones. Once I brighten it up there looks to be skin patches. I'll play with it more to see if I can get that desired skin tone I originally set out for.......Ok, I just updated it. What do you think now, Barbara?

Zak, the face is a little better but the dark tones on her body are still a little off to me there is such a difference in tones.

Nice exercise, I'm glad you didn't overdo the colors.

Thanks for looking. I try not to overdo the colors but some old pictures can be a real hassle with weird tones and textures.

You are obliged to work with the lighting effects used by the original photographer. In some cases, such as this, that does indeed present quite a challenge.
