    2nd Attempt at HDR

    This is my second attempt at HDR. This was taken from Victoria Brigde (Salford/Manchester) I took 3 shots +2 0 -2 (using a monopod) I've alligned them in CS3 (I found that if I am to allign in Photomatix Pro it picks up my misallignment) I've pushed it through Photomatix once and I'm pleased with the result as it was a bright day and the details in the building were "lost"; I realise my 1st attempt was a bit too much but as I'm new to this it's very easy to get carried away!

    Works well, not overprocessed; and a very pleasant scene...but
    your verticals are a bit off......I have a thing about this, and it always
    gets to me...........unless it is so extreme as to be deliberate.......and
    wonky horizons.........I keep having to correct pictures hanging in
    people's houses and pubs

    Duly noted and checked in PS3 using the rulers but I'm not fussed at this stage as I wanted feedback on Photomatix Pro.

    Cheers mate

    Hi Mark Good photo - shows what HDR can achieve. I imagine that such an image would be very difficult to achieve with a single shot no matter the lens or camera.

    Very nice job Chelsea.

    So the second attempt was not a second photo but a second effort in Photomatix? The sky has a very nice deep blue tone.

    Can you tell us what you did in Photomatix on the second shot?

    Thanks

    @njtech,

    alright mate,

    erm no, I couldn't as I'm very new to this. All I could say was I was more conservertive than in my 1st attempt;

    I was virtually dodging bottles as the comments came in from a flickr group site (HDR) I'll be the 1st to admit that it was outrageous and over the top but hey I'm a newbie!

    Mark,

    I am very impressed with what you have done in moving from the first version to the second. Even if considered by some to be over the top, the effect is nice in my opinion.

    I have just started the HDR process myself and am inspired by your success. I have posted a couple of things recently in an attempt to secure feedback.

    Please see the below example that I think may be comparable to the one you had in your first trial.

    I wonder if the methods you applied would work here too?

    Here are the links to the images I am working on now:

    Option #1) The album entitled “2) HDR Source Files (jpg)” is located at the following URL:

    https://www.me.com/gallery/#100210

    This as the name implies has only the compressed files (both source files and tonemapped options that I posted with this orginal message, but included here in their full sizes).

    Option #2: The album entitled “1) HDR Source Files (ZIP of CR2 & jpg)” is located at:

    https://www.me.com/gallery/#100195

    This too has both the original source files and the processed ones. However, here included are both the RAW files and the jpg packaged as a compressed ZIP folder.

    Both of these albums have been set up as public folders without need for password. There may be compatibility problems that prevent the download from the second option.

    Your thoughts...
