It was wet. The Night Herons don't usually get down in the water like that except to bathe. I was about 10 to 15 yards away using a Nikon V2 with the 70-300mm CX lens. Here are a couple of more. Once it was done with its bath it walked up on the grass and shook itself like a dog and took off for the mangroves.

I love the expression of #1 on this second batch...looks like he didn't have hot water...the second one is cute, like you said, like a dog shaking water off its back.

I always love the photos you upload...some are funny, some are just so beautiful...there is always something that tells its own stories each time...I still think of you when I remember that "When I Grow Up" image you uploaded in 2013 when I was just a newbie to this forum...it never fails to make me smile...thank you for sharing these ones with us too...
