Big brownish and beautiful and I am guessing some sort of beetle

Honesty first: Myra took the shot.

It was 22:30 and as I was getting ready for bed Choco started sniffing the window and trying to get out. I let him out and then I saw what had attracted his attention.

He comes in, SWMBO and I head out with camera and flashlights. This shot has been cropped and scaled but other than that what you see is what we saw.

I have no idea what he is other than Big, Brownish and Beautiful.

Tomorrow when I am more awake I will make the shot a little better.

Definitely a beetle, and I would guess a longhorn. I look forward to your update. It is an interesting pose as it is.

This is a great capture, and a very interesting critter. I'd guess a beetle too, but that doesn't narrow it down very much. I vaguely recall reading years ago--I can't trust the memory at this point--that more than 40,000 species of beetles had been identified.

I did try the site and apparently this is a 'Lamiinae', otherwise known as a flat faced long horn beetle. thank-you very much!
