    Project 52...fail!..."Lines"

Well, despite my best intentions, I haven't managed to keep going with the project 52 - I might rename mine, project 12!
I've taken plenty of photos to choose from, but not got around to self critique/edit/upload..
So Im posting this image from our recent trip to NZ, titled 'Lines'

My goal that day was to shoot the mountain range near St Arnaud, as you drive toward it along the plains, images I have seen get you feeling the mountain is about to swallow you up, there are some terrific examples online....

Alas - the cloud was out on the day we were there...
So tried a different approach in the hope the whole day wasn't a photographic bust!

Thanks for viewing & I will keep checking on on those still going with their project 52's

I think its a pretty cool shot, if I was nitpicking I'd say the sky was slightly over saturated?

I was asking someone, on both continents, why the clouds in Australia and NZ are much more pronounced than here in the Midwest. I said I like the patterns and textures of the clouds down under. A guy answered me that it is because you are surrounded by nearby waters. Hmm...didn't know that...

Here, another revelation of the same thought -- the shape, texture and the fullness of the clouds made this shot for me. The repeating lines that is the subject of this image is quite interesting. I was thinking of the lines above as clothes lines decorating the sky with colours. And before my imagination get away with me, I'd better shut up...lovely thought though...going to NZ from Oz is always a wonderful experience. There is always something to photograph along the way.

Izzie ..... But you have such lovely soft light in the States .... Foley Beach SC, New York etc ..... Both next to water.
We used to have it in Dunedin but they did away with steam locos

Normally I don't like urban detritus in images but the power lines in this shot really add to it to my eye. Nice shot. Looks like you used a polarising filter??? Whatever it certainly works.

It is a great shot and one I would have never thought of taking.

I like the composition very much, very nice colors, I find the blue sky a bit oversaturated

Thankyou everyone for viewing & commenting. Yes I did have a CPL filter on board. Thankyou for suggestions on the sky, easily toned down a little. when I make a photo book of the trip.... Although I'm about 3 trips behind on that at the moment eek.
NZ is known as Aotearoa or 'The land of the long white cloud' and it certainly proved that on this trip.
However some opportunities to think about composition etc, when all is not laid out on a plate like a postcard for me

Just a thought, Kay, but how about a slight crop from the right side and bottom to move those wires a little closer to the top right corner?

ps. In the little bit of UK where I live, we are surrounded by sea - and get plenty of grey skies!

I think it is an excellent composition, Kay. Layers of lines and layers of landscape and colour. Power lines, fence lines, roads are a fact of life. If we want to take photos in the countryside I think we have to learn how to use them, and you have done a great job of that.

Thanks Geoff & Greg, I can have a wee look at the crop idea Geoff, I am a bit in Greg's camp too, in that if I want to venture into the great outdoors, I cannot change everything, so need to learn to have a crack at working with what's there.
Thankyou both for your comments, always appreciated.
