    Wild Bellwort

I am always amazed by the sudden return of spring in all its glory. Of particular interest since I live in a very rural and secluded area, are the spring wildflowers.

This is wild Bellwort. It grows in dappled shade along the banks of the gravel road that I travel home.

I wanted to produce a botanical print. What do you think?

    C&C welcome

Excellent image. How did you create the 'Print' style?

Very beautiful, Marie...the green is too glaring for my eyes but it is OK...I've been looking for an iridiscent green colour to use and look at many times and you have achieved it here.

    Thanks, Grahame!

I shot this picture in front of an open door. It produced lovely light from the back.

    Hi, John R.!

I have a sun room where I do alot of my shooting. With wrap around light, it was easier to establish a white background at 255. For PP, creating some layers, a judiciously applied brush and moving some sliders helped to bring out the image.

    Hi, Izzie.

I actually think there is a particular green that is unique to spring and I thought this picture captured it.

    Dear John (Shadowman),

The size of the flower in the frame was intentional to establish presence.

    Good morning, Dan!

These flowers are so beautiful. I wanted to present them with respect and let them shine without competition from other vegetation.

    Thanks for commenting.

It IS a botanical print: when I first saw it, I thought: How can anyone take a perfect picture of a drawing in a beautiful old book about plants. Succeded in every aspect.

Barbara and Erwin, I have to say that I had my doubts about the SOOC image. It was flat. Not alive like what I posted. It was only through a teaching session with my mentor that this result was achieved.

I cannot take credit for doing it on my own.

I think you achieved your goal perfectly - it could be a print in a botanical book.

Thanks, David! I am grateful to have such teaching.

I have told Kodiak "hello" from you. He replies, "My greetings!".

    Re: Wild Bellwort

Since my first image required extensive PP, I revisited my project with my mentor to shoot for transparency as well as front light - thus, an image that was properly lit.

    Wild Bellwort

The actual picture, then, required less corrections.

Since I wanted a botanical print, Kodiak helped me to produce it more efficiently.

I left plenty of room for a gallery wrap. What do you think of these changes?
