Same piece as this one, but a little different feel.

I like this one allot better. I think the other looks to much like a jewelry ad and this one presents more like art to me. The isolation and simplicity just works for me. I like it Terry!

    What? No red bucket?

Both are nice strong images, Terry, each in their own way. What else can I say, I like them both.

    Re: Jewelry Pool II

Hey thank you all for having a look at this. Manfred the BRT is there! I have to have something to dump all this water in when I’m done!

When I started this shoot, I wanted to work with the liquid surface and its relationship to the background. The idea was to get as close to a seamless liquid surface/BG as I could.

As for me, I don’t think I really have a preference. They are each just different ways to go about it and I wanted to better understand how to get each effect. The art, to me at least, is in the creation. The final result is the most important thing, of course, but it can’t be done without the right techniques and the knowledge to use them to begin with and that was what I was after. The means in this case, was more important than the end.

So I appreciate you guys taking the time to give your opinions. It means a lot that you would and I appreciate the help in giving me a better understanding of the end result.

So Nandakumar? I don’t have anything like you are describing laying around! But I did want to shoot something that had some gemstone looking things while I had the stage set! I’m sorry that this piece isn’t a very high quality piece. I wasn’t going to post it originally. It’s about as cheap costume as you can get and for you I would want something very high end! I think it may represent the Borromean Rings.

So I will give you what I do have. My Heart is in this Nandakumar. I hope you will accept it sir.

I like this last one better although all three are excellent images...I thought the second one couldn't be water but shot on something shiny underneath, eg, flexiglass...

I agree Izzie! That was my first impression too.

The ripples in the water on the dark field shot didn’t come out like I had hoped and I don’t think it is necessarily obvious that it is water if you don’t already know that it is. I have some ideas about that for the re-shoot!

    Good call!

I like both of these. Cool idea to use the water with the jewelry.

I like both, this one seems symbolic of evil and the other beauty.
