Nice capture on both, really like the vibrance of the second.

I think the duck is well lit and your capture is good but I've really started to favor the water foul shots that are lower and much closer to the water. Just adds a dynamic that I now favor after seeing what some of our members are capable of.

Your flower photo is art in itself and wonderfully done. I really like it!

Welcome Paul I like both shots. IMO #1 needs some noise reduction and sharpening. #2 is beautiful, it looks like an abstract .

The duck is a bit centrally placed so I would agree with a slight crop from the bottom, and I suppose a similar amount mostly from the right side.

How would it look if slightly rotated so it isn't swimming in a straight line across the scene? To some extent a duck is just a duck, no matter how well photographed, unless it is doing something different from all the other similar shots. Although in this case the water ripples really do help to add something extra.

Talking about the duck, I like ducks, I cut my photographic teeth on ducks, they taught me
exposure of water/smooth water/rough water and how they differ...not to mention light.

On this one...exposure is good, detail is good, DOF is excessive. Smooth water needs higher
perspective to capture nice reflection, not as important with rough water.

Thank you to those who commented and made suggestions. I have cropped and rotated the duck picture as suggested by Geoff F
and I think it improves the composition. Thank you for your help.
