removing useless scripts and plugins from The Gimp

    Hello !
I use The Gimp only for photo processing. There are a lot of scripts and plugins I never use in "Filters", "Script-Fu" and "FX-Foundry": I would like to remove quite a few of them that I know I will never use. Could this action bring problems to those scripts and plugins I want to keep because they have something in common in their program ? In other words, are all scripts and plugins independant ? For instance, I know I'll never need " alpha to logo" while I wouldn't want to have any problem with "wavelet decompose", "high pass sharpening" or
    "heal selection".
    Best regards,
    gpzt

    Hello Guy
why do you want to remove them? I think, you have to go deep into the program to do changes you like and you will end up frustrated.

I would ask the same question as Erwin - Why remove them? Instead, just ignore them. There are many scripts and plug-ins that I have never used. But having them there does not affect the performance of the GIMP, so I just leave them alone.

    Hi!
Thank you for your answer. The reason why I ask this silly question is that I hate to browse through those lengthy lists I have no use for. Apparently one doesn't need to go deep into the program files in order to suppress the useless items :just go to the scripts list and remove by a simple click those you do not need. What I need to know is : are there links between the scripts in which case suppressing one would prevent another from working properly.
    Regards

My answer to that is - I don't know. I don't think so, but I would not like to take the chance that I am wrong, so will not suppress one just in case it affects another.

Just blunt: If you do not like the lists, remove the items and try whether it affects what you love. It is not very difficult to re-install a program
And by the way: maybe you will need something you erased at later age.
Dans le future je propose que vous posez ce type de question dans un forum GIMP.
Excuse me: I could not do without this.

    Erwin,
might be wiser indeed to ask one of those forums before making a mess of my Gimp !
    Thanks for your advice. Regards
