    Spring Findings

I got a new lens (70-200 f2.8.....yeah!) and I was trying it out today with a set of extension tubes. What better place to get feedback than here so here is a sampling of what I came up with. Any critique etc. is most welcomed.

    1. I have no idea what this flower is but I liked it. Missed my focus a bit, it was meant to be in the middle of the flower

Me too.. congrats on the new glass...you'll get used to it easy if you use it often. The last glass on my camera hasn't left its mount since I put it there. It is a good learning experience. Anyway...#1 -- I like the colour very much but a central crop will probably work here very well...#2 well even though I see a lot of these around my yard and like it, I never thought of taking a photo of any of them, so I think this is good...#3 is my favourite -- that's for David too with his bug photography ...

    Ooopppssss....!! David already responded...Hi David...

Thank you David, I really like the lens

Thanks for commenting John. It was a challenge to get that first one because there was a bit of a breeze and everytime I had it in good focus the plant would move. I am going to go back in a few days to try this again.

Hi Izzie, I find that dandelions are a good subject to practice on, and they are in abundant supply I will try the square crop that you suggested.

Hi Rita. Congrats on your new lens. My fav. is #2 with very clear details and composition . The bee shot is very nice with contrasty colors too and the BG doesn't distract at all

Congratulations on the new lens! Amazing the beauty in a most hated weed, isn't it? Very well done! I also like the bee (#3); again very well done. Looks like this new lens has found a very happy, capable home!

When I looked at #2 I made up a new word. "laciness". As in, I really like the laciness of the dandelion seeds.

Nice series, especially the second shot.

When there is a breeze, you can change the shutter speed to freeze the "action" so to speak. I have been known to speed up to 1/1250 so far and then at the back of my lens is the plus/minus icon/button. I just hit that several times up to 100% if it is still blurry to my taste, I will up the speed up some more...

    Thank you Binnur.

Carol, I am not sure how capable I am sometimes but I am sure happy with the lens

    Thanks Matt and Dave.

    Izzie, thanks again.
