    Pelican Island

We had cold front come in today. It was stormy and cold. Normally these guys would be flying all over but today they just wanted to keep warm. The White Pelicans will be gone come April. I will miss them

More than anything else, this shot shows your determination. I'm afraid in those conditions I'd have headed for the car. Great display of the difference in size between the white and brown species. Nice job.

P.S. I recommend LensCoat rain gear

I am so jealous of your "happy place" to shoot these wonderful birds. Love the shot with so many pelicans in one place and not moving!!!

Izzie, they do not discriminate! There are actually 3 of the brown, one is hiding but you see the top of his head. Actually all the birds get along for the most part with an occasional squabble.

They are always watching Grahame! They were all hoping I wouldn't get too close so they didn't have to leave the cozy spot!

Donna, It is an amazing area to live in if you like birds! I feel fortunate to have it fairly close. I am the only photographer that I have seen out there. There are LOTS of fishermen but just me with the camera!

Now that explains the three sets of dark legs... Sorry...I did not look down there to catch it until you mentioned it.

The fisherman all hide from the camera, I think some might be playing hooky from work
