    Oar in the water!

The oar created a beautiful splash every time it hit the water.

I was out on a birding trip and was using my friend's Tamron 150-600. It was a bit of a struggle trying to focus at this short distance sitting in the boat and took me quite a few shots to get this one.

    C&C welcome

    Hello Ashish
Please do permit me to be frank: I do not think, that the picture "works" as the saying goes. The splashing bubbles are in focus, the oar is not. So I personally would "sink" this capture. Even if you would crop to only show the splash/bubbles, for me it is a No.

P.S. And if you think to tear apart one of my pictures, you are most welcome to do so.

I think its a nice image, I think too many people over-analyze photographs sometimes. If its pleasant on the eye, its pleasant on the eye

I tend to agree with Erwin. A good attempt but the subject was a lost cause from the start.

If you had managed to capture a sharply focused and well exposed splash in the top left corner I think it might have worked out a lot better.

Hi Ashish. If you could reduce the highlights a bit, the splash and the colors might look better. I like the image.

Hi Erwin... the whole purpose of posting in this forum is to take objective feedback from the many experienced and wonderful photographers here. In my opinion, taking constructive criticism badly will never let anyone improve their photographic skills. I appreciate your candour and respect your opinion. As for tearing apart your image, i haven't seen any of yours and when i do see them, my feedback will be objective. Vindictiveness has no place in my judgement of a photograph. Cheers

Geoff, point taken... it was a struggle focusing on a close moving object with a long lens on a moving boat... this was the best i could manage under the circumstances. However, will have another shot at it with my 70-200 IS II next time i'm on a boat.
