Yesterday's Walk and some poorly shot Texas things.
During yesterday's rain I ventured out to see if any animals were stirring around for food. The woods were actually pretty busy but my execution in framing an animal in a non-alarmed state failed. Everything saw me coming. lol.
Anyway, after soaking my jeans crawling after a running armadillo I lost a bit of interest in my photography goals of the day an opted for the warm heated seat of the car.
I still wanted to share considering I haven't seen to many creatures from my neck of the woods on here. I'll put a better effort into it the next time out!
Here's what I believe is the Nine Band Armadillo.

Wild ferrel hog. This one caught me closing in and went on alert. It didn't take long for her to sound the alarm which sent all of the rest of them running.

God Bless Texas! Sorry had to represent. I like both but the ferrel hog has great detail. I had the "pleasure" of running into one of these at a state park recently. I had no idea what it was making that horrible noise and stirring the bushes. Scared the poop out of me!

Never saw a wild armadillo - except in a zoo. As far as I know they are "restricted" to the Americas. Despite your bad experiences you got the documentary shot. I do not know whether in your area they are rare and nocturne; still worth publishing it.

Nice shots David, I like the hog one, he looks surprised to see you and is wondering what to do next!

I like the expression in the hog shot a lot

I think you could get away with the first image by cropping a fraction from the foreground and going to a different size ratio.
And the only thing really wrong with the second scene is that noisy background. A bit of light Blur Brush or selective noise reduction should give an acceptable result.

Number two for me also. It sets a great scene.

Like #1 but it is a little bit busy for my eyes. The hog one is most beautiful here, the sharpness and the surprise look says it all. You nailed this one right, mate!

We've see quite a few armadillos in the past few days but all have been doing the opossum on a half-shell routine.
In my youth I shot dozens of pigs but with different equipment. I like the OOF herd in BG.
