These two ships are not even the same company. However, they are sister companies. The QE2 and the QM were trans-Atlantic liners owned by Cunard. I say were because neither are in active service anymore.
Ship companies are recognizable by their stack and/or hull colors.
Cunard was known for its red and black stacks, or “funnels” and black hulls. The white ship pictured on the left is a cruise ship rather than a trans-Atlantic crosser and is of a much different design and would not hold up to the rigors of trans-Atlantic crossings.
The white ship pictured on the left is a Carnival cruiser as indicated by the distinct red, white, and blue whale tail stack. Carnival is a sister company with Cunard and actually acquired Cunard in the late ‘90’s.
