    plant and textures

This morning whilst walking along the local coastline I came across this scene which I felt suited a b&w conversion as it showed off the different textures which first attracted me to it.

You have achieved what I always set out to do as a staring point - get all the tones under control. The second step that I think is needed to add drama/impact is to drag down the curve in the shadow area to gain more punch and differentiation between elements.

Here is a slightly revised version as suggested though its so subtle I might need to go further with it, thanks for your recommendation.

sorry, but neither of the b&w conversions work well for me. there are too many similar tones and not enough contrast. the trick is to get good, rich blacks and white without loosing the high light and shadow detail. the good news is you have a fantastic shot and it should clean up nicely with a little work.
