    Dancing Trees C&C Welcomed

On Sunday, went out shooting in the rain again. I think I do have a thing for trees ;-) This was processed yesterday during my processing lesson (with the ice pictures).

I know this shot will not be for everyone, but it was a personal shot, as it brings me a sense of peace and tranquility. Open image for a better view.

It was checked for purple fringing and there was none.

I did try it in B&W and I prefer this version.

    ISO 800; 1/200s; F5.6; 200mm

Quite lovely. Easy to see that you were touched by this tableau. There is so much richness in the colors of winter that we tend not to appreciate unless we are paying attention.

It's a nice scene and the composition is quite good. At first I thought it was a bit noisy, but looking at it closely, it seems as if there's some movement in there - you can see it in the top branches. I notice that quite a few people on CiC shoot with 200mm at about 1/200s and the seem to end up either compromising ISO and aperture, or the weight of the lens (if not on tripod) causes some movement. Did you use a tripod?

Maybe it's just me. Probably is.

Kim, what is important is not what others think, but what you think of your images! FWIW, I really like the image, it is very nice!!

Thanks Mark. How true that is - not a fan of the winter weather, but I do love it's colors.

Thanks for commenting Rob. The conditions were not ideal; I was sitting in a car as it was pouring; it was very windy (ideally I would have liked a faster shutter considering the wind); and I was only at F5.6. So I don't think it's your eyes; but with the fog... and the atmosphere of the image, it still works for me.

That does rather discourage people from commenting, if I may say so. If someone goes to the trouble to post an image and specifically states, as Kim did, 'C&C welcomed', then surely they are interested in what others think? I'm always careful what I say, especially when it may involve criticism. I think there could be more constructive C&C on here, provided it's done in a justifiable and polite manner.

I hope this forum can be for constructive critique. I want to learn. When people point things out to me that I hadn't seen it opens my eyes and pushes me forward in my learning. I can choose not act on the advice if I want to.
A forum can get a bit bland if we just tell each other how good they are.

Saying that I find for myself it takes courage to put forward my suggesting for improvement.
