Oh Graham...how cute these haystacks are! I like the neat shot of the wheat fields too...
Graham, we country folks in this neck of the woods would refer to those critters as being "butt ugly"
No disrespect intended.![]()
It IS!! butt ugly, William! but hey! for the national bird of Australia, it has a portraiture in a coin with the kangaroo. I was told a long time ago that we are the only country who has animals considered as national something and yet it ends up in the dinner table somewhere.Aussies are very irreverent...
nice series,
'Aussies are very irreverent... ' Izzie i think you mean 'practical'![]()
Butt ugly is a bit too complimentary William. They're certainly not koala cuddly. In fact they have a head like a half chewed mango seed. I've got a shot here that probably gives an even less complimentary impression![]()
Just to say that I think they are uniquely beautiful birds, and you've photographed them beautifully!
They are unique creatures. I tried taking images of some flamingos one time and the emu which was in the same enclosure would come and block the camera every time I put it up to my eye. Figured that in that case I would try for the emu. No such luck when I tried to focus on the emu it turned and walked away. Aha, now I can get the flamingos......darn emu came back.
Typical emu! Very Aussie I should say...In my film days, a looooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggg time ago, we went to Healesville Sanctuary and there was this pair of emu helping themselves to the tourists' lunch. I took a lot of shots as well as other tourists. The next time I went there with friends (from the US) the emus were gone. I inquired why and the caretaker said some tourists complained so they were moved somewhere else. I thought they were cute to interact with people...nevermind.
And while I am here, Graham -- koala cuddly -- I hope you are joking...koalas look very nice like a little teddy bear, but cuddly??? Fuggedaboutit!!!
