    African Elephant

Two more images from a bush trip. This elephant came striding through the herd on his way to water, he is very dark compared to the others, I presume he had a bath then a dust/mud shower

    African Elephant

What always amazes me about elephants is how gentle and aware or their surroundings they are. At this waterhole there was so much pushing and jostling for position, noise and no apparent order, then this little fellow emerged through a forest of legs to dip his trunk into the fresh water.

    Any C&C will be appreciated.

I always enjoy your wild life shots, Clive and these are some of them...the colour, the texture, the dust and all are all there...simply stunning.

The first one is marvelous! I love the way everything about the large bull separates him from the rest of the herd.

    Lovely pictures, Clive.

The first one reminds me of a David Shepherd painting (and that is a compliment!)

Question is Mike, is it a bull? If it's a member of the herd then it's a lady!

It appears to me to have shown up at the waterhole but is not interacting as a member of the herd. It's impossible to know, of course, but that's my impression.

    Re: African Elephant

Hi All, Thank you for the feedback and positive comments. The lone elephant in the first image, from what we see in the picture and no obvious signs. A single elephant and the forehead looks more rounded than pointed, most of the herd in the background are female and the pointed forehead can be seen, so it is probably a young male.
