    Frost moon C&C welcome

Was a bit too late to get the sliver of sky under the moon I wanted but that is the hazard of shooting with no fixed object in mind. When I saw the possibility I had to run back to grab the tripod then set up before the moon dipped below the horizon. One shot was all I got

    Frost moon C&C welcome

This one actually composed and processed with this result in mind

    Frost moon C&C welcome

    These are quite artistic Trevor,

I usually like agriculture-themed photos when I see them. Exposing the moon correctly is a challenge. Did you do anything to make that work better? I would think just elevating your camera a bit would have at least given a little space between the moon and the barbed wire. I also would consider trying do something about the lower wire in photo #2 that's going out of the frame just at the edge. Overall, Well seen and photographed. I like the critter tracks by the fence post, if that's what those are!

I'm very confused; there are no barns. How in the world did you know what to focus on?

I like very much Trevor, well spotted.

The colours make them both more unusual and appealing.

Last night I set up for a similar situation some 15 minutes before the perfect setting sun would be just on the horizon and between the 'V' of two palms, alas the cloud totally blocked the sun at the time

Very nice. I'm partial to the second. It has a very appealing simplicity.

Luckily the brightness of the snow (if such a thing is possible before sunrise) allowed me to concentrate on getting the moon properly exposed knowing I could recover some colour in the snow later.

I ran out of the ability to elevate the tripod before the moon dropped below the horizon. At the point the moon is near the horizon it moves very rapidly and one shot was all I managed before it was too low..

    Any suggestions on the wire?

I pretend the fence is a side of a barn.

Sorry to hear that Grahame. I cannot count the number of times a cloud on the horizon had frustrated me in blocking the rising or setting sunlight. Sometimes it almost seems that nature is laughing at me by placing the only cloud in the sky just where the sun is.

I have a preference for #2 too...love the composition here...#1 is understandably difficult to capture -- you get what you get then have to live with it...unfortunately.

If you had a little more room at the bottom before you cropped you could re-crop, but if you didn't crop that corner, I wouldn't ditch the image over it
