Lake Matheson with Mounts Cook and Tasman

This is the same lake as shown in my Deep Purple thread. I had hoped to capture a reflection of Mount Cook/Tasman in the Lake surface. But as you will see from image 2, unfortunately I was too late in the morning to see a calm lake surface. These images were taken on our last day in that location so I didn't get the opportunity to revisit the location.

That must have been a beautiful place to go to. I like taking a peak of mountains behind the pines...pretty much like on the way to Colorado via Wyoming sceneries...mountains are very strong to photograph and you showed it here very well. I love both of them, no push, no pull really...

Nice shots Peter. Pity you didn't get reflection opportunities, I've seen some stunning photos from there with reflections. Sunrise may well be the best time but to get there I believe there is a bit of a walk ?

Dave thanks for taking time to look and comment. In answer to your question there is a circular walk around the Lake which isn't too difficult a walk it's mainly on the level and with board-walks in places over damp ground. There is a nice visitors centre with restaurant/snacks by the car parks.

We were staying in Fox Glacier so it wasn't too far to drive to the lake but... when you are on holiday sometimes getting up early for a sunrise is difficult to achieve. On our first day the weather wasn't good for photography and we were leaving the next day to drive to Christchurch which was the day that I made these images.

I will just have to go back and spend more time in that area, in fact more time in NZ
