Re: Jenny lived down by the Salmon river
Those slightly subdued colours work well for this scene, and the composition is good.

A very wonderful story in pictures and words for your first contribution here on the CiC forum. I look forward to many more.

I like this too, the colours and composition. This looks characteristically Scandinavian except for one thing. I remember all the wooden buildings like this being painted in strong plain colours, typically blue, red, yellow.

I too very much like the image and the story.
I used to work closely with Swedish colleagues, and the family stuga seemed deeply embedded in the culture. This house looks rather grander than a stuga, but captures the simple house in the woods.

Re: Jenny lived down by the Salmon river
It hasn't be repainted for more than 50 years so it probably looks somewhat paler than the average Swedish country side "stuga"
The red paint used on this "stuga" is called Falu red paint and it contains copper and iron oxide from the area around the city of Falun. Its has a documented history that goes back to 1573 when the roof of royal castle in Stockholm was painted with it. The production of the paint most likely started a long time before that. Even today it is considered quite a good paint and it is still quite popular! The white window frames are also typical for a red-painted "stuga".

Welcoome to CiC!!!!
Thought provoking. I wonder if her spirit still inhabits the place? It would seem that it would belong there.

Re: Jenny lived down by the Salmon river
I am very struck by how powerfully the first image is lit and put together to make the story compelling, not just in the sense of narrative, but visually. Thank you for this one, Gunther.
