    Mystery in Mystic

I saw this flower growing on a vine in Mystic Connecticut but couldn't identify it. I suspect it is because the pedals on the blossom are curled inward. Does anybody know what this roadside flower might be?

Comments and criticisms welcomed. After all, isn't that how we learn?

Frank...very nice clear shot. I cannot help you with ID but can I ask how big the flower is? Without reading your intro post I thought you took a photo of your daughter's hair band... it looks bell shaped and you only captured the tip of it?

It looks like a flower of a kind of ivy Frank, but it is difficult to know the exact ID because the flower can't be seen properly

Hi Izzie and Binnur, here is another one of the same flower against a picket fence where we can see the leaves of the vine to give you a feeling for the size.

I wish I had taken more images from different vantage points but my companions were already quite a ways ahead of me and so I had to quickly 'spray and pray' as one poster commented. There were only a few that were close enough to snap!

Hi Frank. I am from CT. Is the flower a morning glory that has gone "past"? Did all the flowers have this curl? As for morning glories, The flowers start to curl when they have gone by. The leaf does look like that.

Ah! Now that you mention Morning Glory it makes sense. Yes, I only saw a few of them but they all had this 'look' about them. Thank you so much for the identification Kim! Mystery solved!
