Rocks on a log

My wife and I were cruising down the Oregon coast on a leisurely drive a couple of years ago. On an impulse, I turned into a small picnic area. From the car, it looked pretty boring and nothing special. I noticed a small set of steps that led down to the rocky beach so I said, 'what the heck' and followed them down. This is what I found when I stepped out on the rocks. This was just begging me to take a couple of shots.

There's something ominous about their formation. Nice capture.

I have seen this formation before...somewhere...I am sure glad you diverted to this place. It looks like someone has a lot of time and creativeness in their hands and did this...

It was a bit of a challenge to get the best angle and only having a short period of time to do it. Those hills are a bit much to move out of the way, though. Maybe could've shot with a wider aperture to decrease the DOF. That would've put more focus on the log. I hate having 20/20 hindsight when it isn't easy to go re-shoot a scene.

Perhaps a bit of top cropping, increased contrast and sharpening? Love the picture, though!
