    Hotel Libang, Yongkiong, India

I have made a few remarks about the quality of accomodation available in some of the out of the way places we have been staying. I snapped this shot of the hallway of the Hotel Libang and it struck me that it looked a bit prison-like. Let's just say that $24 US a day does not buy you a lot in this part of the world.

Looks like a Bring your own light establishment.

We didn't have to. There was a candle with matches in the room. We were told that the scheduled power cut would occur at 20:30 and would last for exactly one hour. They were right, but the problem wasn't the light so much as the ceiling fans not working (it was plenty hot and no A/C), but we survived, huddling under under our mosquito nets.

The power came on, as scheduled.

That's what real travelling is all about. I'm very envious.

    More than just a bit!

The room looks really clean. My wife and I stayed one night in a room in Thailand that was so dirty that we didn't even take a shower because the stall might have been the dirtiest part of the room. We slept in our clothes because of the condition of the bed and sheets.

Hello, Manfred. Nice shot. Just curious: A) You wanted and added the noise during PP or B) You had to raise the ISO as high as posible?

Nice job, whatever is the source of the noise.

    Regards,

Yes Mike, the room was clean. We were prepared to handle a dirty one. The room we had in Cairo sounds like your room in Thailand.

Otavio, the shot was taken at high ISO because of the lack of available light. Giving the image a gritty look is a byproduct that works with this shot.

24usd is what you would be paying - maybe more, maybe less. A local would probably be paying the same but in rupees.

One place that provides free overnight are the temples. All communal but relatively clean. All you need is your own bedding.

I fully agree, Manfred. It just came in hand. Thanks for the info. Rgds,
