Santiago National Zoo - Trip to Chile - Set 1

Dear fellows,

I was in vacation during the last 4 weeks and I am back with some images to work on. I did two major trips during this period: one was to Chile, with my wife and boy and the other one was my return to Pantanal (I visited this place last year. Here is the link for those who would like to see the thread: Expedition: Pantanal - In memory of my Grandfather (SERIES)).

I will start it by sharing some images from Santiago Zoo. It is located inside the metropolitan park, on San Cristóbal mount.

I am shocked at the detail captured in these critters's fur / feathers. Looks like pp and shooting was handled very well too. May I ask what camera/lens you were using?

Hi Otavio...welcome back to society...

In all these shots, I am wondering why the Flamingo has zips in its beak, then when I look at the chimps, I wonder why that little one do not have that zip in his mouth instead.... Anyway, those stupid thought gotten rid of, I must say you did wonders with all these shots. All nicely done and composed...

Great shots all of them. I live in Melbourne Australia and we have a great zoo here. I have always wanted to take pictures there... never got around to do that. What would be the best lenses to take....300mm 2.8 is out of my league?

Nice set of shots, Otavio. I particularly like nos.1, 4, and 8. Four weeks of vacation, my goodness. I'd have a hard time returning to work after so much time off.

Hi, Nick. Thanks for passing by. With regards to your question, for these shots I used a Nikon D5200 body, with a 70-300 Sigma APO DG Macro lens mounted on it.
