Had the opportunity to go to one of our National Trust Houses recently and one where they will allow photography albeit without any flash or tripod - here are a selection of the day. C&C welcome

In particular - do you think the first two need front to back sharpness ?





This mannequin was wearing the wedding dress of one of the residents - a photo of her in the dress was on the wall. I couldn't resist giving her a vintage look



And then out into the garden....

All of these are quite pleasing, with the last two being my favorites because I like that type of photography and don't see it very often. Very creative monochrome, though try tilting it a little to the left without losing too much of the foreground.

It's just a matter of preference for style, but I would like the first two better if the background was even more out of focus.

Really like #3 and #5 very nice subjects and great compositions IMO.
Not sure on the lighting on the last one its a great subject though.

Thanks Mike. The monochrome is a odd one as I couldn't decide which vertical to be straight - nothing was straight in the house - there were even curved walls. I'll try the tilt though. And thanks for feedback on the gramophone - I'm still undecided

Yep, I like #1 too. No, I don't think you need to have complete front to back focus. The antique phonograph is sharp as it should be and the background is enough in focus to provide the period setting.

Hi Kaye,

Nice set. I especially like the 1st image for the composition and unique subject. (DOF in #1 and #2 work for me). I adore #5, something about the colours (Soft detail) and arrangement of the pots is especially appealing to me.

I also like the wedding dress image for the unique composition (and yes the beautiful dress). When I move it around for some reason I want to crop a bit off of the top (she's headless anyway) and from the right side. I think it is because the mirror is less prominent.

No Kaye, 1 & 2 are just right the way they are. I know you couldn't do anything
on take but I hate the copper horn …just its colour!

Nice set, Kaye. I like images like these where you've chosen detailed scenes that caught your eye. Too many times we'd simply be presented with an overall shot of the front of a building, etc. Well done.
