    Feathered Friends

The Rainbow Lorikeets are not usually happy to share but for some reason allowed this Top Knot Pigeon to join in. I just loved the colours on the pigeon.

** It is a Crested Pigeon not a Top Knot **

    Hello Anne,

After exploring the exif of the take, I know you had no way to improve on the
only aspect that could be better: a much narrower DoF. This could only be
achieved with a ƒ2.8 or even bigger aperture lens or if you'd used the full
focal length of your lens. If I ignore this point…

your picture is pure beauty! The birds are rendered naturally and this pigeon
is new to me! Never seen something so surprising before… thanks for sharing!

Nicely captured image, the tail positions of the two birds really add energy to the image and the colors are beautiful.

Awwwwwwwwww.......so beautiful and different. Is that sort of pigeon a local variety or a state variety? I have seen a lot of parakeets and galah in my backyard in Melbourne but not this kind of pigeon. Nice shot, Anne...

There ya go! I have crested pigeon in my head but I did not say it as I might be wrong. Didn't have time to research -- too early in the morning and trying not to create too much noise in my laptop as the boys and the beast were asleep behind me. I never knew how loud this typing thing sounds in the middle of the night when everyone is asleep.

I live about 5 minutes walk near a park over there and my backyard can be quite busy with parakeets and lovebirds and not to mention, the noisy galahs... I will have a lookout for them when I visit in October/November this year. There are so many things to photograph near where I live, especially the vineyards and the dingo farm nearby too...my area there is red wine country.

Anne...the pigeon...I have never seen one with such gorgeous colors. It is deserving of a solo study.
As for the image itself, heed Kodiak's advice and use a shallower DOF to alleviate the colorful background.
    Thanks' for posting that image.

Beautiful capture. The two are eying each other while the third is busy feasting.
    Lovely colours.

I am laughing as I have just been on one of the other forums and realise that 'the beast' must be Tucker, thought you were referring to your other half :-)

It is just as easy to make you laugh...you'll have a lot of that from me... we Aussies are good at it...that is why I love Greg (Footloose) and Greg (the paint guy, Greg1763) and other Aussies and Kiwis here...
