    Took this shot a few days ago beside my campsite. Canon 70d, 100mm macro, f2.8, 1/250sec

    Hey Paul,

    This take clearly demonstrates that there is enough DoF (at ƒ2,8?… yes, confirmed
    by exif!) the get the whole monster perfectly sharp. One can see the corridor of
    sharpness spreading bottom left to upper right in front of the subject. Had you focused
    not on the lateral hair but on say the "antenna" I suspect that you would have got the
    whole caterpillar in sweet sharpness!

    Exposition and rendition are perfect.

    Lovely capture Paul, I can see the focus dropping off at the top of caterpillar, next time try somewhere between F11 and F14, still a great image though, keep them coming

    Thanks Kodiak. I focused by setting it to 1:1. Then moved my head back and forth. Needed to be more parallel to the subject I think.

    Thank you David. I will try that light permitting. If I had used a tripod I would have upped the f-stop.

    Hi Paul, I use diffused flash on 99% of my macro shots, it makes hand held shots so much easier
