Hey Jon, I think the inclusion of the dock in the second take was a very good
idea since it adds to the layering of the shot. Well done.
I knew it was a bad habit to go to bed too early! ;-)
Must have been a storm approaching. Nicely shot.
The dock makes the photo.
You went to sleep to those colors? I suggest an alternative: prop open your eyelids with toothpicks.
As beautiful as a dream.....![]()
A very nice capture. The colors are awesome.
Amazing indeed.

What a lovely evening. I agree the dock adds to the second shot.
"Red sky in morning, sailors take warning. Red sky at night, sailors delight." The saying holds true more often than not because typical weather fronts in temperate zones(Europe, North America) travel west to east. To create the red sky the horizon that the sun is on has to be clear to allow it to shine up under the clouds. So red sunrise means clear east horizon, clouds in the west(i.e. usually approaching). Red sunset means clear western horizon and clouds in the east(i.e. already past).
Ironically the saying completely breaks down for hurricanes/typhoons which commonly approach from the east.
I have quite a cache of similar useless trivia![]()
I was about to say that in the first one the horizon is leaning to the right but with the inclusion of the dock, it makes it more understandable. Gorgeous colours! Beautiful shots. Very spiritual...and inspiring.
The colours of nature never cease to amaze Jon.
Thank you all for the comments. There was a storm that had pushed through earlier but it was rainless the rest of the night.
