Nick Brandt website now featuring much larger photos

Nick Brandt has just launched a revamped website and has posted the following up on Facebook:-


www.nickbrandt.com just went live with all the photographs finally at sizes up to three times larger than before, full screen.


Obviously, they don’t come close to having one of the books, but please visit if you don’t own one of the books and want to see the images larger than before.

For me it's a case of just looking in awe. Outstanding stuff. You should also have a read of what he's been doing to protect wildlife. A man who is passionate about his subject. And it shows.

Thanks for sharing and exposing my ignorance; I had never heard of Nick Brandt.
I'm blown away by his images and, perhaps as either a testament to his skill, my obliviousness (likely both), I was half way through the third portfolio when it dawned on me that all of the images were B&W, proof positive that B&W is visually engaging and emotionally stimulating.

His skill as a photographer and an artist shine though in every image. Funny thing, as I'm viewing his work I'm 'hearing' comments that I've read so often here in CiC; '...maybe a slight crop...', '...appears a bit overexposed...', '...a bit soft maybe...?' Which just goes to show that for an artist, the personal (rather than the collective) vision is the only one that really counts. Thanks for sharing the link.

There is certainly something very special about those photographs. It would take me a long time to work out and describe why they have those special qualities but he must have a great love for his subjects.

I think that sums it up perfectly. To hear him talk is both saddening and inspiring. The work he has done to try and stop the slaughter of elephants by ivory poachers is immense. He doesn't just talk about it. He has given his time, money and energy to trying to do something that will have a real impact.

A number of the elephants featured in his images were, later, found hacked to death and their tusks removed.
