Long time no C !!! images of Grey tree frog and jump spider

Hi all, its been a loooong time..sorry just no bugs in winter!!! so here;s 2 on a little getaway so just warming up..would really like your opinion on the frog..personally..its my fave image, its really a different view, i have a few thtas shows its feet and it looking to side but im happy with the impact of the eyes of this one..but i've had some crit about pple mistaking it for asnake. Personally,..for me..its not about it been a frog or a snake..(snakes dont have the distinct T in the eye btw) its more about the composition. Did i go wrong somewhere or right by chance?

Claudio, I think both these shots are perfect examples of why one needn't have to stack. The shallow DOF works perfectly in both instances.
For the jumper, I'm impressed that the colors of the substrate so closely match those of the spider itself, perfectly camouflaged and perfectly shot.
The frog shot is likewise perfect, and what an endearing angle. I think the composition (of both) is dead on.

Hi Claudio I completely agree with Jack , they are both super. But I have to tell you that I haven't seen such a frog photo before , very interesting indeed. I would blur the little sharp (or less blurred) green part on the stem on the left as the rest of it looks blurred already.

Thank you all for your comments. Yes Binnur, i have a few at normal angles which shows the frog holding the reed. Was just looking for something different. Also agree about the blur, will sort it out. The frog was holding top of reed so this image is actually from above looking down.

Hello Claudio: I absolutely love the frog image. The face in the upper right third and the two branches reaching out toward the opposite sides are perfectly composed. I agree that the shallow depth of field enhances this image. I have yet to try my hand at stacking, although it is on my "to do" list. For now, I attempt to use my macro as you have demonstrated, in an effort to use the shallow DOF to a more artistic result. You have, however, set a high bar in that regard.

Hi bud!! ty, good to be back.

With the jumper yes..had the 24mm on if i recall correctly. Not the frog though..the frog was about 3 cm big..i find i onyl use the ext tubes when i decide im gonna go out and look for smaller bugs such as ants or these jumpers. So both taken wiht my Tamron macro lens but spider with 24mm tube as well. Both taken at f11 spider 1/200th sec with flash and frog 1/60th with flash. I was looking for little blur from reed when i took the frog..i was lucky..gave me time to play around. the jumper was just pure darn luck.

i wanted to ask..as far as shutter speeds go..if using flash..what speeds are u working with?

Hi Claudio, my settings 99% of the time are Manual-ISO 200-S/S-200 and F11-14 with diffused flash!

Great captures Claudio love the frog, was he sleeping he looks annoyed as if you woke him up

The composition is perfect and it will be degraded if you blur that stalk.
