Great capture with that light John.

Perhaps some things you could have considered trying are, opening up a bit from f/8 to blur the background slightly more which would have been at a cost of DOF on the flower, off centring the flower and getting some 'in closer' shots.

It's a superb subject with that light.

Very nice shot. Often, full sunlight doesn't work well, but I think you have produced a nice result in this case.

If you are reasonably adept with postprocessing, you can experiment with Grahame's suggestion about a blurred background that way. There are lots of blur options in photoshop, and Glenn has posted on this site instructions on how to do it with the LR adjustment brush. The suggestion about moving it off center you can easily try just by experimenting with other crops.

Very nice and respectable, John...this just goes to show that one must wait for a cloudy day and/or the golden hour just to get a shot like this.

Many thanks for the crit all,

Grahame, I tried to keep the flower sharp as much as possible but good suggestion on the background. I aim to try stacking soon too, did it once and made a dogs dinner with it

Dan, thanks, I will check out the blurring with LR, not done that before.
