My wife's best photos

I occasionally display here photos captured by my wife among my own but all of the photos in this thread are hers (post-processed by me) from our recent trip to Lofoten, Norway. I was with her at all times but I never saw these scenes. Considering the quality and diversity of these photos, you can imagine how eager I am after returning from a joint session of photography to cull and post-process her photos.

I might suggest Mike that...two people will never "see" a scene in the same way.
Consider the prolific photo-walks and the variety of different images coughed out sans consistency.
The same would apply to post processing.

The compositions are good, the PP is...

She is a brilliant photographer. Of course, the PP is half the completed image, but as we well know you can't make great images out of rubbish raw material. And what we see here is that the person who captured the photograph really had the artistic eye and technical skill to do that well.

She almost always agrees. When she has an objection, it usually has to do with my decision to make a monochrome (though not in the case of the black-and-white photo shown above).

Agreed. However, I'm not referring to subtle differences between how we observe the same scene. I'm referring to the fact that we can be standing next to or near each other, yet she'll find a scene I never saw.

I really like #3, ship in a bottle! The color of the background compliments the bottle so well. Very simple, but powerful image. #4 is a beauty!

I was curious on her opinion because the camera never captures what I see unless I underexpose the image and I wondered if your edit agreed with how she saw the scene. Good to see you and she are in agreement.

Your comment reminds me that she will occasionally mention that the scene as displayed in a photo didn't appear that way when she saw it. I then remind her that I didn't see the scene and even if I had, I might have altered it to make a better photo. That ultimately leads to the joking reminder that if she wants her images to appear a certain way, she can post-process them.

In my experience it is akin to one's partner having selective hearing - you get so used to each other its easy to ignore one another and what you're doing albeit within the same seeing/hearing distance. My partner does the same but we often end up with similar images too.

You and Mrs B make a good team, these are all wonderful evocative images

Totally missed these Mike. Very nice set of images. Must be nice to have a common interest. My wife is a potter and whilst I admire what she does, there's just a hint on her part that photography is not quite art.........
