Re: Mating & Nesting of Weaver Birds
Leslie, you seem to be in a no-win scenario regarding camera settings...SS on the low side and excessive ISO, leading to blur and noise. Are you trying to hand hold the camera with these shots?
Not sure about your AF locking on target...

Re: Mating & Nesting of Weaver Birds
Hi Leslie,
Just to say that as beautiful as these birds are I see the locale as impossibly difficult to photograph (light, local, proximity). I think #2 is a pretty good shot.
I see your exif data as a SS of 2500 & 4000 which should be fast enough but I bet the branches in the background make it hard to grab focus.
Anyhow, I think your trying for an almost impossible shot. Something I still do far too often.

Chauncey,
Thx for viewing & commenting.
As I am using a new camera to shoot these pictures and not familiar with the camera, I manually focal the nest, which is moving most of the time & set at 1/2500 as advised by one of my friends and anticipate the approaching weaver birds.
I will upload photos of my 3rd attempts later

Re: Mating & Nesting of Weaver Birds
Maybe you should change your technique and focus on the BIF instead and the blur of the nest just becomes your reference without taking the idea of what it is doing building the nest, instead of focusing on the nest itself...
