speechless! well typeless... if you know what i mean.....
Thats excellent. Very detailed on the eyes.
Trying macro myself and its not easy.
Very nicely done! Nice detail, and you nailed the focus. I've seen a few flies doing that, but no one has ever explained what they are doing. Do you know?
A lot of theories.

Another good one David, I have seen them do this and there seems to be varied differing suggestions on the internet.
I suppose the reasons not too important as long as it's not on your food or in your beer

Hi David,
Amazing image, and a beautiful moment captured (golden moments of regurgitation???). Seriously it is a gorgeous image!

Hi Kodiak, what I meant was, what explanation do you have for the bubble?
Got it, thanks! It is not a bubble but a drop!
Flies are very ancient insects that never developed mouth pieces. The way they
eat is quite specific to the species (great number of sub species and families, etc).
They eject their gastric juices on the meal they want to absorb and let the juices
digest on the spot the food they will "suck" back in.
Other animals, like spiders, will inject the juices into their prey and suck them
empty.
Praying mantis did develop mouth pieces.
Bon appétit!
