Not to forget… before leaving home!

I caught this "red tail" baby on its first excursion out of the nest where
it should have been taught the decency of hair grooming prior to passing
    the front door!

I had to be very quick to get it… the second take was empty already!

    C&C welcomed

    Daniel,

Are you 100% happy with the shot?
Is the composition what you wanted? Is there space for the bird to fly into?
Is the BG what you want it to be?

Is it worth waiting for another opportunity and wait for the right moment?

Where do we draw the line when we want it to be perfect?
How much time and effort are we prepared to put in to get the shot?

You know what you have done right and what is wrong but I would like to hear from you, how you would critique this shot of yours.

To be honest I cannot pull off a shot like this, I do not have the equipment to do it.

What an expression, I've seen that look on quite a few subject's faces. Nicely captured, unless they are sleeping you get what you get with birds, the slightest head movement can throw off my camera's autofocus system.

Daniel -- you came upon a little lady who had just woken up by the look of it's untidy hair!!! I would be looking that harshly at you too if you took my photo the same way! Can't you just wait until she had taken her shower and brush her beak first?

Daniel, you captured the bird looking at you with a really great expression of character and the eye focus is spot on, end of.

The crop and highlight police may have some concerns/suggestions but if it were mine I would not change anything.

    YES! YES! YES!

Is the composition what you wanted?
I didn't and still don't care… there was too little time!

Is there space for the bird to fly into?
I was hoping it would stand still just for a few shots… I got only one!

Is the BG what you want it to be?

I am making a living with photography. Most of the time, I have no time for such hunting.
I was going to my car to rush to a client when I saw the birdie land there. A next opportunity
may never come… I had the 300 ƒ2.8 and a body in my hand and shot the monster!

Where do we draw the line when we want it to be perfect?
Who cares for perfection! Any way, this shot is PERFECT… LY FUNNY! That's all that counts
and that's the best I could hope for! Ok, I make a good living with my trade but only because
I'm having fun at it, shooting anything.

How much time and effort are we prepared to put in to get the shot?
When a shot like this comes, such considerations are futile and irrelevant. The time and
efforts should be considered well before in your working discipline so that when a shot
like this one comes, one's always ready!

You know what you have done right and what is wrong
Right? YES! I got a funny shot.
    Wrong? No, you tell me…

…but I would like to hear from you, how you would critique this shot of yours.
This shot is like a smile, a candy. Take it for what it is! I don't pretend anything more!!!

To be honest I cannot pull off a shot like this, I do not have the equipment to do it.
I do. …and sometimes, I get a birdie! I having a ball when I read the other comments that
    understand the smile, the candy.

    Take it easy!

Fair enough… I never open my eyes before the second cup of coffee! ;-)
… with a smile like that, I could forgive you almost anything…

Cool wisdom! You're right, sometimes taking pleasure, for what it is, is gratification enough!

As usual, the birdie is SOOC!

My...my...things had certainly changed around here...we used to have a looking-for-shapes-in-rocks-and-clouds police, you also added a crop and highlight police...

Be grateful she paused and smiled. I wouldn't change a thing.

Now that you say it… but the parents are so sweet! Every year brings a pair
of red tails to nest under my patio roof.

I agree with your answers 100%!! This was an "on the spur" of the moment opportunity, in which you captured it perfectly!!! It certainly brought a grin to my face, and I can't see anything "wrong" with the image, as there isn't anything to pick apart!

Thanks for such a great, cheerful photo!
