C&C wanted for two B&Ws of a mountain lake
Views of a mountain lake as morning mist was rising. Unfortunately, I got there too late, as the mist was almost gone, and I had to rush. I am not happy with either of these--for a specific reason in one case, but I would rather hear other folk's comments. thanks

For me, Dan, the first one works fine but the second has several problems. There is no foreground subject and without having a crisply focused object there (as with #1) we can't tell if the distant shoreline is in fog or just out of focus. There is that little patch of dark tree on the right but it doesn't really help. If anything, it is a distraction.

I am with Geoff here, Dan...but I have a nit to pick --- I prefer only half of the watery weed showing or get rid of some by removing the rock at the LHS. I do love the rising of the mists from the water though...it add to the mood of the shot.
Cheers,
Izzie

Nice images, needs a few spots healed here and there.

thanks all. No one mentioned one of the problems I have with the first one: there is too much vertical distance between the pickerel weed on the bottom and the dock, making it hard to concentrate on both. I should have lowered the camera closer to the ground to bring those closer together in the image.

But if you lowered your shooting position you would probably have lost the three dimensional look of that jetty. Gained a bit but lost elsewhere - that's life!
