One half of your image (the foreground) shows nothing of interest, sometimes shots like these force you to put something in the foreground perhaps not so much as shown. Nice exposure on the sunrise and handling of the horizon.
Thank you.
Hi Norm, perhaps this will help you get the kind of feedback you are looking for?
For me, this kind of an image could be absolutely perfect or in need of changes. It all depends on what you, as the photographer, are trying to accomplish. Hope this helps!
It's hard to tell without being at the location but this is a shot where I would consider taking a couple steps left and right looking for alternatives.
For example, a bit to the left and the sharp overhanging branch would be a foreground feature that framed the taller grasses.
Step a bit to the right and it frames the darker tree in the middle distance.
Hi NormTaking a lot of shots with different angles at the same place really helps. When you get home you can study them and choose the better ones.
Any sunrise/sunset shot is going to be something of a compromise, Norm. Either the bright areas will be over exposed or the shadows will be too dark. In this case, I think you have the balance about right.
But as previously mentioned, I would lose some of the bottom. You might get away with a similar amount from the right side so as to reduce that bush by half; otherwise a different crop ratio will be needed.
Thanks for all the comments, very much appreciated and noted.
