    Sicus ferrugineus

Actually a type of fly. But with an unusual lifestyle. The larvae live as parasites on bumblebees.

    Sicus ferrugineus

When I first saw this fly, from above, it looked like a much rarer species; but when I got to eye level I realised what it was. However, still not that common and this is the first one for this year.

    Thanks for the comments.

These flies are usually reluctant to move so it does give a bit more in the way of 'thinking time' while shooting. Tried several options but using a little bit of flash came out best. I think my shutter speeds were a fraction on the slow side without flash so the sharpness wasn't quite so good.
