Calling Bug Experts - What is This?
Hello All: This is not the best shot, but I'm posting it in the hope that one of you bug experts can tell me what it is. I live in Northwestern Ontario near the shore of Lake Superior. I was actually waiting for butterflies when this fellow caught my eye as he was a distinct red rusty colour and showed up quite distinctly against the pale yellow flowers. It was about 2 inches long, so I would call it a rather large creature as bugs go. It reminded me of a flying shrimp.

Wow! What a quick reply. Thanks Marie. I googled "hummingbird moth" and the images definitely match my little visitor. I was glad to read that he eats only nectar and has absolutely no interest in humans.
