Musta screwed up; no CC 2014 features

I up graded my Photoshop CC a couple days ago...it says my up-grades are up to date.
But, after looking at the tutorials...I'm not getting the up-grades.
It seems to be automatic...how may I have screwed up?

On my computer, they are NOT automatic. I have to use the Adobe Creative Cloud program and tell it to download and install them. That being said, I have the whole suite, so perhaps Photoshop is handled differently.

Try going to the Photoshop "Help" menu and click on "Updates"

That's precisely what I did in both PS CC and LR...I let it do its download, which it did after
closing out PS CC and voila, aah...nothing changed.

If it works the same way that the Lightroom updates work using a perpetual license, it is only downloading the installation file. You then have to run that to install the update.

OK...In each of them, I enter the "Help" file, then do the "check for updates" then simply click on the download buttons. Is there something else aside from needing to close PS/LR during the download process?

Which sort of updates are you talking about?

I find the ACR version certainly updates itself automatically - I think I got 8.5 a couple of days ago - along with something else, but I wasn't paying attention

Checking Updates manually, my (single app.) PS CC says it is all up to date.

re: Musta screwed up; no CC 2014 features

We have the exact same release, but the Select > Focus Area feature is in "Photoshop CC 2014", which is a later version than 14.2.1.

No idea if, or when, we might get it, the Updates page doesn't help much either.

I thought the whole point of CC and subscriptions was to do away with waiting for annual releases.

I remember initially getting some new features automatically, but not recently, apart from ACR.

My subscription is due to renew on 25 July, I wonder if it comes through after that happens?

UPDATE: this thread is useful: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1499548, although you might need to log in to see it.

I am currently updating the Creative Cloud Desktop to see if that shows the separate CC 2014 app. as per the adobe forums thread, but it is getting late, so may be a tomorrow job.
OK, now I started installing CC 2014 (yawn - bedtime)

Oh, and by the way William, I don't think it is you that has screwed up!
Having CC 2014 as a separate app. apparently (sight unseen) without some of the usual stuff like Mini bridge and it isn't too stable, points to the problem being elsewhere
    One has to ask; WHY?!!!

Don't shut down Photoshop? I think you might be killing the download by doing so.

It always tell you to turn off the application during the download process.

Interesting - just as an aside, the 2014 version came across last week on my machine and is labelled 2014.0.0 Release

re: Musta screwed up; no CC 2014 features

I signed up for CC last Thursday and it only pulled the Photoshop CC 2014 release down (think I timed it just right) then oddly it updated my stand alone CS6 though to be honest I've yet to look at it to see if there are any differences. I'm guessing because I hadn't updated it there were some ACR tweaks to be added.

I was very impressed that it asked if I wanted to import my CS6 preferences (including all of my actions) though the Nik filters had to be copied manually - no big problem.

re: Musta screwed up; no CC 2014 features

Update, well I now also have the 20140508.r.58 x64 version - as a separate app. sitting alongside 16 and 32 bit versions of CS5, CS6 and the original CC.

Funny how, for some (e.g. new CC customers?), like Robin, it downloads automatically, while established customers have to go find it themselves.

To be clear; I did not have any version of Photoshop running while doing this.

I had to use Win 7's "show hidden icons" (upward pointing triangle in lower right corner)
Open the (background running) Creative Cloud app. (it looks like an infinity sign or knot)
Select to Install CC 2014 from there.

So I guess this is what you also need to do William.

I might even install LR as it is available free to me - if nothing else, it would allow me to understand, perhaps even answer, some of the LR questions here at CiC.

    Cheers,

You should do that Dave. You might even get to like it

FWIW...I contacted Adobe and gave them permission to access my desktop and fix whatever was wrong.
I didn't follow everything that they did but...I think that they deleted my old PS CC and reinstalled
everything from a Creative Cloud App, whatever that is??
Still have no clue as to what went wrong from my perspective??

I've gotten to the point that I think it's always better that way. At the very least, I have no reason to admit that it was operator error. That's important because that's always my wife's assumption when it comes to problems that I experience.

I thought folks might be interested in a couple of relevant free to view tutorials on CC 2014 by Deke McClelland:
