Mmmm...It looks like you are in a minority of one there John.
Thank you.![]()
it is absolutely stunning; creativity at its Best![]()
I like it Sharon. I had your picture on my screen when I was called away from the room. Coming back, when I glanced at it from the room doorway, I found it more powerful an image. We have the bad habit of wanting to put our nose to the screen. I find this one to be more defined from a distance,as if looking outside from a frosted window.
Thank you Louise, Nanda and Binnur,
Binnur...I'll PM you .![]()
The interesting thing about 'art' is that it is subjective, and while I'm surely to be a minority of one, it's not working for me. In fact, with so many other of your works there was a resonance, a harmonic that drew me in. I've tried to determine what it is and I can only say that your image here evokes a visceral response in me in a negative way. I simply can't explain it. I've looked at this image multiple times and...I can't explain it but I don't like.
Obviously I'm not being mean, nor do I feel that you're so fragile as to be pushed into a deep depression because I don't like it, rather I think you have succeeded in a way you may not have intended: Your other works have pushed me gently in one direction, this one has shoved me back the other way. So for better or worse your image has had an impact on me which, in the end is really what we're all after. Aren't we?
[I just looked one more time before posting this reply. It still disturbs me on some unknown level. So keep up the *good* work.]
Sharon, didn't get it at first but took Louise's approach and backed up to look at it and it took on a whole new meaning for me. I really think Jack nailed it when he said "So for better or worse your image has had an impact on me which, in the end is really what we're all after. Aren't we? "
Don't know how you do what you do but it's a stunning photo.
Nice art!
Good composition, Sharon, well spotted. I like the diffuse blur and coupled with the scratches, it allows me to think I am watching this scene through an old window. But the texture at top left and bottom right doesn't fit with that idea.
I know that you are not being mean Jack and I shall let you into a little secret.
My husband loathes and detests this picture.
'Blurred People in figuritive artistry' is a wierd little discipline and by no means everyone's cuppa! I don't do much of it any more but I do enjoy it when I do as it is quite Zen. Essentially it's trying to convey a scene with people pared down to a few lines and shapes. It works as a sort of visual palate cleanser for me if I've been working with textures and it is fun keeping an eye open for scene's to shoot where the body language is so strong than I know it wil take this sort of 'back to the bones' treatment.
I really appreciate you being honest enough to say 'nah...not for me' but yes I am glad it made some sort of impact, even if that was a negative one on this occassion.....at least it didn't bore you.
Thanks for not just passing it by but taking the time to tell me how it affected you.
Thanks also to Travis, Kyle, Harmon and Greg for your comments.![]()
Same food tasted differently by different people; all opinions are rewarding, whether they are positive or negative; sometimes a studied dislike is more useful than a superficial like; any how i once again viewed the image for some time and i still feel the charm of it; the points i noted;
# The frame looks both like a white washed wall with cracks of summer and leaks of monsoon and like a snow coated window permitting translucent visibility only
# Three people walk away from one another after a friendly talk or dispute...or they can be just strangers to one another.... nobody can be sure about
# It has enough visibility to make stories as i have done and enough mystery to dig in.....
For all the above reasons which i could express and reasons which i cannot explain, i liked it very much![]()

I think you explained it perfectly.![]()
very interesting, I like it. I would be interested how you achieved this. If you don't mine telling, of course.
Hi Tom.
There are a few techniques for achieving this look but probably the starting point is to deliberately over expose until you get the shapes you want without a distracting background.
