12 - Puerto Ayora pier - Puerto Ayora is the main city of the archipelago. Is is located in Santa Cruz island. It is easy to watch manta rays, small sharks, sea lions and fishes from the pier, at night. It is always crowded of tourists and Ecuadorian families. Very pleasant place to walk, after a dinner and a couple of beers!

13 - The Andes, seen from Quito airport (Gate waiting room, shot through a glass wall).

15 - Leaving Ecuador, seeing the Andes from the plane's window. Shot with a Sony TF1.

16 - And that's the last one from the Andes. 6 hours (and some Ecuadorian coffees) later, we were back to São Paulo. From there, My Dad went to Uberlândia, while I came back to Rio Cheers,

Thanks for sharing your journey, Otavio. You made some impressive shots through the plexiglass windows of the plane. The terrain in Galapagos looks forbidding but the sea is beautiful. Quite a unique place.

Hi, Dan. Thanks for your feedback. I appreciate it. Just would like to remember that the last four images are from Quito area (Ecuadorian capital), which is in the continent, in the middle of the Andes (I was in the way back home).
    Kindest regards,

Hello, Frank! Thanks for passing by. Just to let it clear, the rugged lands (do you mean the mountain range on #15?) are the Andes area close to Quito (Ecuador's Capital). Galápagos Islands are about 1500km from Quito, flying over te pacific.

    Thanks for your reply. Regards,

Hi Otávio, I was referring to the jagged volcanic rock you are seeing all over the Galapagos islands. I'm not sure how you could make a living there, other than supporting the tourist trade.

Ah...I understand your point now, Frank, sorry. Well, there are reasonably big parts of "good" lands in the biggest islands (Santa Cruz and Isabela, for instance), where I saw big farms, with some plantations, cattle and so on. Still they need to get many articles, specially industrialized goods, from the continent, by either planes or supply boats. But, of course, most people there make their living thanks to the tourism activity (boat trips/cruises, Scuba dive trips, souvenir shops, guides, restaurants, hotels, etc).

    Cheers,

All lovely. I admire your compositions. The pier is stunning. However, I love the last shot for the beauty of the mountain peak amongst all those beautiful clouds.
