Let's hope that's what it is. Nice image.

Brian, it is an ant-mimic spider. Notice the eight legs. These spiders will wave their front two legs as if they were antennae.
Interesting capture; the spider appears to be suspended above the leaf, almost 3D.

I thought it was a strange looking ant. Never thought of 'spider'. The sun was almost entirely behind the leaf. I wish I could take credit for the suspended almost 3D effect but it was just the luck of the shot.

According to 'Flashback' it is an ant mimicking spider. It is an unusual image. Possibly because the suns back lighting takes away any hint of shadow and gives a bug suspended over leaf effect?

Interesting, did a quick search and found that the mimicry can be for one of two reasons: evasion of predators or method of attacking ants.

I am finding that with a little bit of luck the sun can be a powerful tool.

This fellow was all alone when I found him. He was a little more than 1 Cm long. he is about the size of a few Queen ants I have seen here.
