Sunset - La Malbaie, Quebec, Canada
The weather has finally improved enough to take a few shots. This image is out over the village (the Roman Catholic church with the silver steeple is the traditional town centre in many Quebec towns and villages) out over the St Lawrence River's north shore. La Malbaie translates as "bad bay"; named by Samuel de Champlain, one of the early explorers in this part of the the world, when his ships got stuck here during low tide.
The image was taken as the sun was setting at Point-au-Pic (La Malbaie), Quebec, Canada.
This is probably the first resort town in Canada, when a couple of Scottish lords started hosting guests here in the 1760's.

I used a polarizer to kill some of the reflections on the water and a 2-stop soft GND to bring out the clouds.

I like the way the light on the steeple pulls my eye down the house in the foreground, and after gazing at that I move on to the lake and sky; beautiful soft colours Manfred.
We have to live with power lines but can you get rid of the wheelie bin in the lower left of frame?

Nice light and shadows Manfred, good shot. You picked a good time to take this shot I think.

Nicely worked Manfred. Lovely light and the exposure is spot on. Pity about the tree in the FG but I guess you didn't have your chain saw with you.

Very nice. I'm with John 2 on the wonderful light and spot on exposure. The red light grabbed my eye, and I suppose the first impulse is to clone it out, but there is something about it I like as is.

Thought I had seen that name before, been through there 4 or 5 times in a pass few years, really pretty countryside along the north shore of the St. Lawrence. You got a very nice capture of the region.

Size does matter!
When viewed in the small size, the red roof attracts my eye in an unappealing way. When viewed in the large size, the red roof is fine as is.

Thanks for the comments; many of which reflect my own thoughts too. I'm on the road right now so editing capabilities are pretty restricted, and I plan to do some cleanup when I get home again,
