Re: Landscape /colour and B&W
I think the strength of the scene lies in its colour, not in the lines, tones, textures or shapes. For that reason, I would not look upon this scene and think of it as a candidate for a B & W image.

Re: Landscape /colour and B&W
In my opinion I think the image works better as a color rather than BW photo. The highlights, color variations of the field and sky, and textures that make the color image vibrant and interesting seem to be lost and slightly muddied in the second version. For example, in the tree line on the horizon of the BW photo, the texture of the leaves is lost in shadow.
In the color image I think the composition and use of the diagonal lines in the foreground draw your eye into the background/horizon. I also like how the taller group of trees is grouped towards the right edge of the photo rather than the center. Great image!

Re: Landscape /colour and B&W
Edit, exposure, and composition look great in first image. I think for the B & W image to work you need to concentrate on the sky and the horizon, limit attention to the foreground area as much as possible, no real area of interest. Foreground comments apply to b & w image only.

Re: Landscape /colour and B&W
I think you lose a lot of detail in the B&W. Nice composition, exposure and saturation with the color picture. Th e foreground definitely leads the eyes.
