    vultures

Came across an interesting scenario today. While driving home I pulled over to take pics of 2 eagles in a field. Then I discovered that there were 3 turkey vultures feasting on a dead Coyote. Wow, I have lived in and around this area my whole life and never knew these birds were here. The pics are not great and the Coyote could have been more considerate and died on a better background but here is a sample of what I took. It really was interesting watching this event.

    C&C always welcomed.

I just love #1 -- it is the way that you captured the full spread of the wing as it landed on that destination to share that feast with the other one. I like #4 for its sideway pose. Here's looking at you, baby...

    Rita,

Did you do any noise reduction on these images, they look a little soft and grainy? Was that your intent?

I once took a picture of a hawk that turned out to be a chicken hawk, common in Michigan...it was so ugly that I deleted the image. IMHO, vultures fall into that category. Could be why I avoid selfies.

Birds are amazing subjects to photograph when you can get close enough to capture the details, and how the birds interact with each other and their surrounds.

    Thank you David and Izzie.

John, to be honest I was really tired when I touched these up so I am not sure what I did to them. I am going to take a second look at them when I get a chance.

    Michael, I totally agree.

Hi Rita: You were obviously in the right place at the right time. Great timing. I agree that the coyote could have chosen a better place to leave this world, but that would have been out of your hands. I really like # 4 as it shows the truly "interesting" face of the vulture. I wonder if vultures dream of coming back as eagles? This is a nice representation of nature and the cycle of life.
