Corrugated
Something quite a bit different from my recent desert landscape shots...I would love to get your thoughts on and impressions of this image.

Re: Corrugated
I am generally not a fan of symmetry, Shane, but I am attracted to this.
I think you did very well to see the opportunity in this scene and you have executed the concept very well. If it were mine, I might have tried to conceal the join in pp.

Re: Corrugated
Nice. I expect the lines to blur the more you stare.

Re: Corrugated
I thought it was the back of my husband's favourite shirt until Greg mentioned PP-ing the joint.
Good study of lines. Very simple...

Re: Corrugated
Thank you Greg, John, Izzie and Mike. Here is the image that I started with...in color... do you like it better as a stand alone image? Color or black & white?

Greg, fist comment out of the box and you caught on to what I did...not sure how or why the idea came into my head but I gave it a try and I liked the result
I didn't remove the join as I thought that it made a more realistic looking corner with the shadow left as is. My thinking was that this would look really cool big on a wall and would give a 3D impression of looking beyond the wall.

Re: Corrugated
Definitely the stand-alone version. Great eye for seeing it! I waffle back and forth between the color and monochrome versions of it. The color is so unique I would probably end up choosing it if I had to make a decision.

Re: Corrugated
I think the stand-alone version is much more interesting, Shane. The coloured stripes emphasise the vertical lines and break up the 'monotony' (for want of a better word) of the pattern.

Re: Corrugated
Hi Shane,
I don't know very much about abstract images but I prefer the 1st image (B&W) because it is very compelling to view and it keeps me looking at it trying to figure out what it is. Although I can see stunning detail in the 2nd image, I find the first image more intriguing and I just think the image is prettier in b&w.

Re: Corrugated
Thank you Mike, Greg & Christina. I have to admit that the side of this building just jumped out at me as I was wandering about. Interestingly it is a very modern building located in Old Town Scottsdale which is more well know for Western themed saloons, buildings and shops...go figure?
I guess my gut is right once in a while about an image
I still want to see how the first looks printed though as I like the 3D quality of the symmetrical composition.

Re: Corrugated
I really like these, both of them! I find them compelling; meaning I just keep staring and finding interesting things. I can't choose a preference between the two. The geometry of the first keeps me involved; the relationships of the shades of color dominate my eye in the second. Nice work Shane!

Re: Corrugated
Very nice job, the first processing is the one for me as well, sometimes the simple things are often the best.

Re: Corrugated
Thank you Andrew and Kay. I do want to explore more architectural shots and your kind words (and those of others) are just the encouragement that I need
